A bit about the video.
Synopsis:
“606 Eyes and I” is a surreal exploration of the performance of self through the surveillance apparatus of social media.
Concept:
Originally created as a silent 90 second loop for continuous projection “606 Eyes and I” premièred at SPAM (Screen Projection Art Mandurah) in January 2014. For this online version I have created an original atmospheric soundtrack to accompany it.
With this film I was interested in how we eagerly present and perform our everyday activities in virtual arenas. Unavoidable, inescapable spaces we’ve grown addicted to that make us willing, yet unknowing participants in the surveillance state.
